About

Chemists for Diversity and Inclusion was founded in the Chemistry Department at the University of British Columbia in 2019. Previously, a Women in Chemistry group had been created in the department, but we felt it was important to change our name so that we could be advocates for all underrepresented groups.
We are changing the face of our department by sparking necessary discussion about equity, diversity and inclusion within our community and the greater scientific community. We host a monthly Journal Club Meeting where we discuss an EDI paper. This is a great place for grad students, post docs and faculty to come together on important topics. We also host many guest speakers and workshops throughout the year. This year we will be implementing EDI training programs in our department in the hopes of reaching a wider audience.
We believe everyone has a place in STEM and that everyone's voice deserves to be heard.
Our Mission

Our Vision
